You do not need to be a teacher. All we ask is that you are a fluent speaker, and have the patience for a conversation with someone who is looking to learn and improve their conversational skills.

We charge a minimal fee for the service. The fees help us

• Cover site administration costs
• Provide the service for free to people who live in NZ and are refugees, or on a low income
• Provide free reading and writing lessons to the 11.8% of Kiwi adults and 22% of Kiwi teenagers who struggle every day with literacy.

• New English speakers can book 10-minute daily video conversations with supportive volunteers.
• These quick, effective sessions make it easy to fit language practice into a busy schedule, supporting steady progress in speaking and understanding English.
• You decide how much time to offer.
• On our platform, you’ll have a personal calendar where you can set your availability, allowing customers to book sessions in the time slots you provide.
• When you go on holiday or you aren’t feeling too well, you can make yourself unavailable.
• Customers pay a small fee for each session, which helps cover platform costs and supports the valuable work of the Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust. (www.adultliteracy.ac.nz )
